About Metrolina Library Association

The Association was founded in 1969. It combines the former Mecklenburg Library Association and the former Metrolina Library Association. It is made up of librarians and paraprofessionals from public, academic, school and special libraries and of other individuals interested in libraries to:

  • Encourage and foster awareness and cooperation.
  • Provide opportunities for social interaction among members.
  • Provide continuing education opportunities.
  • Encourage cooperation, networking, and resource sharing among libraries in the Metrolina area.

Membership in Metrolina Library Association


Membership is open to anyone affiliated with or interested in libraries in the twelve county Metrolina area:
  • North Carolina: Cabarrus, Catawba, Cleveland, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Rowan, Stanly, Union.
  • South Carolina: Lancaster and York.

History of Metrolina Library Association

The Association records from 1957-2000 are currently held in UNC Charlotte's manuscript collection.
